„Negotiating Cultural Heritage. Making, Sustaining, Breaking, Sharing. A Conversation“ addresses cultural heritage from an interdisciplinary and transregional perspective. What does cultural heritage mean in different national and regional contexts? Who can claim it as theirs and who decides what constitutes cultural heritage, decides how it is preserved, displayed, or restored? Should museums and other cultural institutions act as preservationists, explorers, or mediators of this heritage? How do archeological institutions that excavate and research figure in this scenario?

The event will take place on April 24th, 2017 at Bode-Museum in Berlin. It is jointly organized by the research program Art Histories and Aesthetic Practices, the Cluster of Excellence Asia and Europe in a Global Context, the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut, the Forum Transregionale Studien, the Max Weber Stiftung and the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz.

Since the event is a sequel to the Annual Conference „Making, Sustaining, Breaking – The Politics Of Heritage And Culture“, please find more detailed information about the event on TRAFO – Blog for Transregional Studies.

As a Science Reporter, you will participate in the event and document your experience online: on Twitter, Facebook, our blog or any other place on the web. Are you interested? The Max Weber Stiftung offers to cover the travel and boarding costs of all selected science reporters. Send us an e-mail with a short application (wwc@maxweberstiftung.de) by March 29, 2017.
